SUMMARY

The objective of the course is to develop capacities, competencies and skills regarding two different topics:

  1. PVT properties analysis for oil and gas samples, which is helpful to understand and predict the volumetric performance of the reservoir as a function of pressure and temperature, which includes how fluid properties are usually determined by laboratory analysis as well as the experiments need to be performed on samples of subsurface reservoir fluids. Additionally, the participants will learn how to obtain the main fluid properties based on empirical correlations. The course also provides insight to the use of PVT properties to design reservoir depletion process and surface production facilities.
  2. Oil and gas wells drilling operations, where participants will learn about the rotary drilling technique, drilling rigs and equipment and well planning and design, The drilling process for oil and natural gas wells, including  a detailed explanation of the drilling string, the drilling fluids, the different types of tubulars and the casing cementing for the proper well isolation.
