Curso Online Live Streaming
July 7 to 11, 2025
Duration : 5 days
Level: Advanced
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Drilling engineers, operations managers, geologists, petrophysicists, log analysts and other petrotechnical professionals who want to learn how to leverage time series analysis. Participants must have a solid foundation in data science using either Python or R.
COURSE CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
This one-week course offers a comprehensive introduction to time series analysis and forecasting using Python and R, covering both foundational concepts and advanced machine learning techniques. Participants will learn how to process and analyze time series data using pandas and R dataframes, visualize trends, and apply statistical methods to handle non-stationarity. The course explores machine learning methods for time series forecasting, including feature engineering, target transformations, and model training, as well as deep learning techniques like encoder-decoder models and attention mechanisms. Real-world use cases in both subsurface analysis and well construction will be used to demonstrate the practical application of these methods. By the end, participants will be equipped to implement multi-step and probabilistic forecasting, evaluate model performance, and apply these methods to time series problems in their respective domains.
Course content includes:
- Key concepts of time series and its relationship with the Data Generating Process (DGP)
- Handling and processing time series data with pandas and R dataframes, including missing data techniques
- Time series visualization and analysis of trends, seasonality, and irregularities
- Forecasting time series as regression problems and applying feature engineering techniques
- Training machine learning and deep learning models, including using attention mechanisms and transformers
- Probabilistic forecasting methods like Conformal Prediction and Monte Carlo Dropout
- Multi-step forecasting strategies and evaluating forecasting performance
